Smart swaps: Low-FODMAP

Following a low-FODMAP diet can make grocery shopping difficult. We found some simple swaps to make it easier.

Any product examples given here were correct at time of publication. However, remember to check the ingredients and nutrition information every so often, as these can change over time.

Instead of Kellogg’s Special K Original (contains fructans from wheat)
choose Kellogg’s Special K Gluten Free
Leave the Wattie’s Pick of the Crop Chinese Stir-fry Mix (contains fructans from onion)
and reach for the Wattie’s Pick of the Crop Super Mix
Swap Massel stock cubes (contains fructans from onion)
for Massel 7’s Chicken Style (in the blue wrapper) – gluten, onion and garlic free
Leave the muesli bar on the shelf (may contain fructose and sorbitol from coconut, honey and fruit)
and snack on freshly popped popcorn instead, for a low-FODMAP fibre boost
Instead of Anchor Trim milk (contains lactose),
choose Anchor Zero Lacto Trim milk
Swap Diamond Spaghetti (contains fructans from wheat)
for Diamond Gluten Free Spaghetti (made with corn flour and no soy flour)
